DG Aviation GmbH, headed by Holger Back and Sebastian Tschorn, comprises the areas of service and maintenance, new aircraft sales, and development organisation. The construction of new gliders is carried out by JSDG Production GmbH, which was founded for this purpose.

As the world’s largest glider LTB with a certified maintenance (Part-CAO) and development organisation (DOA) , DG Aviation and its 50 employees, including 25 service specialists, primarily service gliders and motor gliders from all manufacturers as well as ELA-1 aircraft.

New aircraft manufacturing – JSDG Production

Together with Jonker Sailplanes, the idea of a joint production organisation emerged. The synergies are clear, adds Sebastian Tschorn: “The portfolios complete each other. Jonker builds high-performance single-seaters, while we have the DG1001, a two-seater that is equally suitable for training, cross-country flying, and aerobatics. Jonker, meanwhile, was looking for uncomplicated access to the EASA-regulated market.” However, licensing a production facility from South Africa in Germany would have involved considerable organisational effort, so the two companies decided to join forces. For the time being, we will continue to focus on our DG1001 series in the new aircraft segment, which is justified by the declining number of active glider pilots and the fact that many clubs are looking for universally applicable aircraft. The new RES variant is in the starting blocks.

With DG Aviation into the future!

The maintenance and service departments are being continuously expanded—first-class service and maintenance operations for gliders of all brands as well as ELA-1 aircraft and motor gliders. “We want to further expand our traditional business and enable ourselves to deliver the best possible aviation solutions for our customers,” Sebastian Tschorn, Head of Maintenance Organisation.

We are also your expert partner when it comes to spare parts services for DG, LS and also JS aircraft. Modifications such as the neo series are being extended to other aircraft types, and research projects with universities provide us with scientific insights and knowledge in a wide variety of areas.

Of course, electrification remains an important aspect in the further development of gliders. Our successful collaboration with Jonker Sailplanes is enabling the development of a two-seater with RES propulsion.
