The neo-concept

During the last few years, we have developed a series of high-performance winglets. These neo winglets are characterized by their typical outer shape and can now be retrofitted to many aircraft types. Any of the neo-winglets can be retrofit to your glider and are thus a great option to upgrade its performance and appearance. Especially older aircraft may significantly benefit from the performance gain and get a nice new look. All this at reasonable costs!

Benefits
  • Reduction of boundary layer separation at outer wing
  • Reduced induced drag
  • Thermal handling significantly improved
  • Increased agility around longitudinal axis
  • Improved directional stability
  • Handling at low speeds significantly improved
LS1 neo

Retrofittable on any LS1-c, -d and -f

  • very gentle flight characteristics close to stall speed
  •  LS1-f: Maximum allowable weight of non-lifting parts increases from 230kg to 250 kg
  • LS1-f: Maximum cockpit payload increases (depending on weight of non-lifting parts)
  • LS1-f: Optionally to be combined with new wing-to-fuselage transition
LS3 neo

Retrofittable on any LS3, -a

  • LS3, -a: Enhanced behavior close to stall speed
  • Enhanced flight characteristics in turning flight
  • Reduced stall speed
  • Due to the new separation point 200mm from the wing tip, it was possible to develop an aerodynamically optimized transition curve to the neo winglet.
    LS4 neo

Retrofittable on any LS4, all versions

    • Maximum allowable weight of non-lifting parts increases from 230kg to 250kg
    • Maximum cockpit payload increases (depending on weight of non-lifting parts)
    • Max. water ballast limited to 112l
    • Water bags need to be repositioned and modified if applicable
    • Maximum take-off weight limited to 505kg
    LS8 neo / LS6 neo

    Retrofittable on any LS8 and LS6-b, -c, c18, -18W

    • LS6-b: Wing connection can be retrofitted
    • Improved flight characteristics at high wing loadings
    • More efficient in dynamic flight
    • Improved glide ratio (verified by Idaflieg survey)
    • Can be combined with small tail wheel and cockpit air extractor

    DG1000 neo / DG1001 neo

    Retrofittable on any DG-1000

    • Optimized for 18m (club, S, T)
    • Optimized for 20m (S, T, M, E and RES)
    • Reduced stall speed
    • Significantly improved handling in thermals
    • Improved stall characteristics
    • Perfectly suitable for flight training
    DG300 neo

Retrofittable on any DG-300 (all versions)

    • Improved handling in thermals
    • Improved stall characteristics
    • neo Winglets fit on the existing parting lines
    • Maximum take-off weight limited to 450 kg (992 lbs)
    • VNE is 250 km/h (135 kn)
    • Water ballast not permitted (same as old winglets)

    Retrofittable

Any of the neo-winglets can be retrofit to your glider and are thus a great option to upgrade its performance and appearance. Especially older aircraft may significantly benefit from the performance gain and get a nice new look. All this at reasonable costs!

    Success drives development

After having successfully developed various winglets for the Red Bull Air Race over a couple of years, we decided to use the methods and knowledge gained from these projects for developments in gliding. After the extremely successful winglets for the LS8, further projects for various DG and LS types followed.

    Retrofit kit or all-inclusive package

Have you decided to install neo winglets on your aircraft? Then you can either do the installation yourself using a kit, or have it done directly at our premises by our competent specialist staff.

    One concept, yet completely individual

We have already equipped several aircraft types with the neo concept and will continue to do so. Before we can apply for certification for a model, we need ten signed options from customers. We are often asked why it is so expensive, given that all winglets are the same. That’s not the case! Even those for the similar profiles of the LS6 and LS8 have different separation points, and the LS1 to LS7 all have very different profiles to which the winglets must be optimized. It’s not plug-and-play. One concept, yet customized for each aircraft type!
