DG-1001 Club neo im Landeanflug

DG-1001Club neo – The state-of-the-art Trainer

Our DG-1001Club neo marks the entry-level for your club. It is the latest training sailplane on the market, eminently suited for basic instruction and advanced training. With its 18m wingspan and our new „neo“ winglets the handling characteristics leave nothing to be desired. Due to its excellent slow flight and stalling conditions the pilot will always have everything perfectly under control. An important factor especially during instruction.

Cockpit

Instrumentenpilz in der DG-1001 vorneThe cockpit is like in all other DG-1001 models ergonomically designed; you will never experience fatigue in flight. With a seat cushion and an adjustable back rest the pilot can optimize his position in the front seat. The rudder pedals are re-adjustable in flight – another plus factor in terms of comfort. Any pilot from 1,55m up to 2m will comfortably be seated in the front seat. Copilots or instructors of any size take advantage of a continuously adjustable back seat. If you want to fly with a passenger you can take the stick out. Big side pockets offer adequate room to store everything you need during a (long) flight.

Our two-piece canopy provides great visibility. The rollover bar between the two canopies adds to the sailplane’s safety. If desired you may of course order a tinted canopy.

All the control elements are clearly arranged and intuitively accessible. By means of well adjusted control surfaces and only a slight effort needed on stick and rudder pedals students will quickly learn to operate the ship and enjoy flying it.

Fahrwerk der DG-1001Club neoThe effective wheel disk brake is combined with the airbrakes’ handle. The well-sprung main wheel will effectively absorb bumps and is designed to survive even hard landings. All gliders within our DG-1001 series are equipped with a tail wheel.

Wings

DG-1001Club neo Winglet 18m SpannweiteThe DG-1001Club neo’s inboard wing is identical to all other DG-1001 models. Its state-of-the-art airfoil allows for a great flight performance. An extraordinary performance regarding a training glider: With a glide ratio of >1:40 and a small sink rate of only 0,62 m/s the pilot – after a winch launch – has a good chance to come across a thermal. An average pattern flight is fairly longer and a student may take advantage of some additional air time for training. As standard, the wings come in two parts. Each inboard wing carries a wheel, so you won’t need a wing runner for an aero tow. Ground-down tips are a thing of the past.

The appropriate Wingtip for any Purpose

Wingtips DG-1001We outfitted our DG-1001 Club neo with „neo“ family winglets, which are optimized for gliding instruction. This configuration provides harmonic flight characteristics, and the DG-1001 Club neo‘s good-natured stall characteristics turn out to be even better. For aerobatics, we have developed new end plates, which downsize the wingspan to 17,2m. In this configuration the DG-1001 shows a better agility around the longitudinal axis. An important point regarding the DG-1001Club’s sustainability in your club is the 20m option: Simply mount the 20m outer wings at the sectioning point and in just a couple of minutes your trainer will transform into a 20m ship. A great opportunity for your club’s cross country pilots.

Trim Box

Der Trimmkasten im Seitenleitwerk lässt sich leicht befüllen. The trim box positioned in the vertical tail is a unique feature of the DG-1001 family. Herewith your crew’s individual weight and balance can be optimized. It is not only useful for spin training but also enhances the glider’s handling characteristics in level flight or while thermaling. The allowable center-of-gravity range may as well be utilized without employing the ballast box. A good feature during training: When on one day you have several students lined up for instruction you may not want to change the number of trim weights after every single winch-launch. The easiest way to ballast the glider is to mount your trim weights according to the lightest instructor-student combination and then leave them in the box for the rest of the day. For aerobatics the trim box should be stocked according to the chart, enclosed with the glider, though.

Safety

ACL-DG-1001Our DG-1001Club neo has a modern safety cockpit according to JAR-22. Some lives have already been saved thanks to the construction. To further enhance safety, we have designed a flashlight for the DG-1001 family which is integrated into the sailplane’s nose. The red flashlight significantly adds to crash-prevention. It is well visible from far distances and in any weather conditions. An important tool particularly in mountainous areas!

Versatility

DG-1001Club_AAFCAn important factor for the DG-1001Club’s success is the mix of possibilities: first instruction or cross country training combined with excellent characteristics for aerobatic flight. Meanwhile Air Forces all around the world enjoy flying our two seater: The US Air-Force for example, the Indonesian Air-Force, Australia’s Royal Air-Cadets and the Brazilian Air Force are using the DG-1001Club in their programs.

Flexible and adaptable

DG-1001The DG-1001Club neo’s configuration is very flexible. You can modify the sailplane in many ways even in hindsight and adjust it for any purpose of use in your club. A fixed gear can be replaced by a retractable one, which is manually operated. When you have ordered wings prepared to carry water ballast, you may always upgrade them with 160l waterskins. However the most interesting modification probably is the 20m tip including winglets to be mounted at the serial cutoff. In the twinkling of an eye your training ship is modified into a nice 20m two seater, a wonderful sailplane for your club to fly cross country.
